Who this is for

BOTH, NOT EITHER.

01

THE LIFTER

Strong on the bar but gassed after a mile. Another leg day won't fix that, you need an engine that can keep up with the muscle you already built.

02

THE RUNNER

All engine, no chassis. More miles won't fix that, you need to get strong enough that the miles stop breaking you down.

Hybrid athletes train both. That's the whole idea.

The work

PICK YOUR LANE.

The Hyrox tool

KNOW YOUR SPLITS.

Put in your goal Hyrox time and the tool shows you what every run, every station, and the roxzone has to cost you. Adjust the sliders to match how you actually race, and if you've raced before, drop in your old splits and see exactly where the time has to come from. It works for any Hyrox, and I built it off my own, 1:24 solo and 1:12 mixed doubles.

SEGMENTTARGETADJUSTLAST RACEGAP

The gap between where you are and that goal time is trainable. It's literally what I do.

Targets come from averaged real race data, official leaderboard splits plus published analyses of several hundred thousand results, shown at men's open standards. Roxzone swings about 2 minutes venue to venue, and your race will vary. That's kind of the point.

The method

STEP 01

LIFT LIKE A LIFTER

You actually lift. Barbell work that gets heavier over the weeks, with the sets and reps written down so you can see it moving. It's not a circuit with light dumbbells and a timer.

STEP 02

RUN LIKE A RUNNER

You actually run. Easy days that stay easy, hard days that are genuinely hard, and a long day that keeps building. None of it is junk miles you're grinding out to feel busy.

STEP 03

RECOVER LIKE A PRO

The boring part that makes the rest work. Eat enough, sleep enough, and take the easy day easy, because that's the only thing that lets the hard day be hard.

1:1 Coaching

A COACH, NOT AN ALGORITHM.

This is for people with a real target, a first half marathon, a Hyrox, a 70.3, or honestly just the decision to stop being one-dimensional. Every Sunday your next block lands in the Playbook app, rebuilt from what you actually did, not what I hoped you'd do. Send lift videos whenever, reviews come back within 24 to 48 hours, and once a week you get a written check-in on what's working, what changes, and why.

The coach

MITCHELL McCULLOUGH

I'm a hybrid athlete in New York City. I coach in person at Life Time and online everywhere else, and in August I finished IRONMAN 70.3 Northern California in 6:47:26. I trained for it under a coach of my own, because I think a coach should be in the work with you, not just assigning it.

I'm NASM certified, and I train people to be strong and fit at the same time, no shortcuts, no picking one. That race is the whole argument: 70.3 miles is not a thing you talk your way through, and I got there while lifting, running my own businesses, and living a normal full life. So I know what it takes to train hard when the calendar is already full.
